One thing virtually all Aussie homeowners love is renovations – or shows about renovations. In fact, the latest findings from Roy Morgan Research reveal that close to 8.4 million (62% of) Australia’s 13.6 million homeowners did some kind of renovation in the last 12 months – up from 7.5 million (57%) three years earlier. Between that and the popularity of television shows like The Block, you’ve got an audience that wants to learn more, get inspired and dabble into DIY projects.
Nobody has captured the attention of the millions of renovators around the nation as much as Australia’s favourite renovating couple, Kyal and Kara. The public fell in love with the dynamic duo during the eighth season of hit TV show ‘The Block’, where they dazzled with their contemporary aesthetic and skilled craftmanship – Kyal is a qualified carpenter after all – winning the most room reveals on their way to the (equal) highest judges score on the show.
From their soaring popularity on The Block to their own web series, this couple has really tapped into the hearts and minds of budding builders and renovators to bring some of their inspiring thinking and design to our living rooms. Partnering with the best in the business is one of their measures of success and we couldn’t be more delighted to join them on their journey, as they build their dream home by the beach in ‘Blue Lagoon Build’, the next season of their online Renovation Series.
Veterans of more than 35 renovation projects in the last five years alone, the couple is now building their ‘forever home’ to settle into with their two children on the sunny Central Coast of New South Wales.
With an amazing location only footsteps from the beach, Kyal and Kara will have the opportunity to hit the beach and soak up the sun while their dream home does the same!
The couple worked with Clipsal Solar to determine a home solar system that was perfect for their ‘Blue Lagoon’ home, factoring in all available rebates and subsidies.
Based on our expert assessment, their home was fitted with a 9.8kW solar system, which features 28 premium high-efficiency solar panels, an inverter and an optimiser, all powered by our game-changing Clipsal Cortex analytics home energy services kit, including a mobile phone App.
With state of the art sensors installed, Clipsal Cortex will monitor the performance of each major appliance in the Blue Lagoon home. Capturing real-time data, Clipsal Cortex analyses appliances and system performance, energy consumption, and environmental data, meaning Kyal and Kara will receive recommendations to adjust their electricity consumption and save more money!
