What Is The The Empowering Homes Program & Why Are We Excited To Be One of the Few Approved Suppliers?
We’re excited to see that the NSW Government has launched Empowering Homes to a wider number of postcodes now and is helping home owners install a new solar + battery system or add a battery on to their existing system with an interest free loan (the government pays the interest).
What’s the big deal? It’s still just financing solar right?
Don’t have solar yet? If your electricity bill is over approximately $100 per month and you don’t have solar yet you can be putting money in your pocket while having a top tier solar system with a battery installed on your home.
Have Solar Without a Battery? If you already have solar and you use a reasonable amount of power in the evenings (TV, computers, lights, AC etc) and you’d like to add a battery to your system so that you store and use your own energy at night, then, depending on your setup, most people will also be able to do this while also saving money each month.
How Does Empowering Homes Work?
Get a New Solar + Battery System
The Empowering Homes program offers an interest free loan of up to $14,000 (repayable over 8 years) for you to install a new solar + battery system from an approved installer. This would save you approximately $3,182 in interest payments (compared to a standard solar loan*) over the 8 years and this saving starts going into your pocket from month one. Depending on the size of your house, a Clipsal Solar system is usually under this cost so will save you even more.
Add a Battery to Existing Solar
The Empowering Homes program offers an interest free loan of up to $9,000 (repayable over 10 years) for you to add a battery to your existing solar system. This would save you approximately $2,593 in interest payments (compared to a standard solar loan*) over the 10 years and, depending on your energy usage profile, this saving often starts going into your pocket from month one. Clipsal Solar can usually add a top tier battery for under this cost.
Who is Eligible for The Empowering Homes Program?
To be eligible for Empowering Homes you must be a home owner occupier, live in one of the postcodes below and have a combined household income of less than $180,000 per year. It is not available for off-grid systems, your house must be connected to the power grid.
